The Dor series is produced with Netofa’s estate-grown grapes and only during the greatest vintages. The Netofa Dor Syrah 2017 shows the distinct characteristics of Lower Galilee’s terroir. It is dark ruby red leaning towards garnet in color. The nose shows notes of ripe cherries, dried strawberries, leather, smoky wood, and freshly brewed coffee. Full-bodied, with a velvety texture, with on the palate ripe red fruit, black olives, Mediterranean herbs, savory mushrooms, medium acidity, with lush tannins as well as hints of vanilla and espresso that linger on the long, rich, and mouth-filling finish. Generous, scrumptious, and flavorful now but will keep evolving over the coming decade.
The grapes were grown in Netofa's vineyards in the lower Galilee, near the famous Kerem ben Zimra. This area is well known for having one of the best climates in Israel ideal for growing grapes. Domaine Netofa wines are refined and elegant, modeled after the Rhône Valley style of winemaking. This wine was vinified and aged in French oak barrels.
